Winter Pushes On and Our Deficiencies Keep On Keeping On...
Greetings Mainline Wellness readers. Winter pushes on and our deficiencies keep on keeping on...
In positive news, there has been an increase in attention focused on iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Examples, if you are interested, live (here, here and here).
The Dose interview is particularly apropos featuring Dr. Michelle Scholzberg because she hits home with many of the topics we are working to push to the forefront of the health narrative - the high percentage of women suffering from ID or IDA who simply don't know it. If you want to avoid reading the transcript, you can listen to the Dose podcast pretty easily wherever you typically tune in.
Two other Mainline conversation connections made during the Dose are:
The high incidence of negative symptoms related to oral iron.
The fact that oral iron lives outside of prescribable drug plans. This means that oral iron can be, for many, hard on the stomach, and expensive.
Mainline Wellness Offers an Alternative
An alternative to all of this is IV Iron and the work that we are doing at Mainline Wellness. As an Emergency Physician, Dr. Davidson was stunned to see patients coming into the Emergency Department for IV iron and founded Mainline Wellness to offer efficiency in treatment and to lessen the weight on the already burdened hospital atmosphere.
For more information or to jump into this conversation, please reach out to us at mainlinewellness.ca. We are assembling a group of accordant individuals and organizations working towards ID and IDA education, advocacy and treatment. It's an exciting time and banding together with others will make our mission stronger.
