Spring Clean Your Wellness Routine

Our Favourite Locations to Get Active in the Lower Mainland

Spring is in the air! The days are getting longer, the cherry blossom trees are blooming, and the weather is warming up. At Mainline, we love this time of year because it means our patients can get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Walking or running is one of the best ways to enjoy the spring weather and boost your wellness. Getting enough iron is particularly important for athletes and fitness first-timers because exercise increases the body’s demand for oxygen and iron.

Iron is necessary to produce hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to our muscles. So, before you hit the pavement, getting your iron levels tested might be a good idea if you're feeling sluggish or low on energy. If you have low iron, you may benefit from IV iron therapy

Once you’re feeling energized and ready to go, British Columbia’s Lower Mainland has some fantastic routes that are perfect for springtime.

Stanley Park Seawall - Vancouver

This iconic Vancouver route is a must. The 10km route takes you around the perimeter of scenic Stanley Park, offering stunning views of the ocean, mountains, and city skyline. If counting steps isn’t your thing, there are plenty of bike rentals in the area if you’re looking for a change of pace.

  1. Bear Creek Park – Surrey

This park offers a variety of trails to choose from, including a 2km loop around a beautiful lake. With plenty of greenery and fresh air, you’ll feel one with nature in no time.

  1. False Creek Seawall – Vancouver

The False Creek Seawall is a great option, located steps from our Vancouver clinic. This 6km route takes you along the waterfront from Olympic Village to Granville Island, with plenty of cafes and shops to stop at along the way. Stop by and say hi!

  1. Burnaby Lake – Burnaby

Burnaby Lake is a beautiful place to visit. The 10km loop around the lake takes you through forests, wetlands, and meadows, with opportunities to spot wildlife. Bird watchers! Don’t forget your binoculars!

  1. Serpentine Fen Nature Reserve – Surrey

This nature reserve offers a flat, easy route for beginners or those seeking a low-impact workout. With plenty of wildlife to see along the way, you'll feel like you're in a nature documentary. Que the Attenborough commentary.

  1. Queens Park Loop – New Westminster

A walk in the park, literally and figuratively, this 1.9-km loop trail is located near New Westminster, British Columbia. It's widely regarded as an easy route and typically takes around 25 minutes to finish. This trail is a favourite among runners and walkers, although you can still appreciate some peaceful moments during off-peak hours.

No matter which routes you choose, or your experience level, getting active outdoors is a fantastic way to boost your energy levels and improve your wellness. And if you need an iron infusion, you can feel confident with Mainline Wellness to help you to feel better. So, lace up your sneakers and get out there – spring awaits you!
